Only SJP……..

Morning! Read this piece recently and thought I would share it with you…..got to love SJP….got to love the people who dress her and got to love the way she wears the clothes….and when a certain Mr Treacy makes you something like this, then WOW….bet it did leave people gasping….and talking!! Excellent…lets all talk hat!!

BM x

They say any PR is good PR. So perhaps it was good news that Philip Treacy created another outrageous headpiece for actress Sarah Jessica Parker. The Treacy hat raised some eyebrows when Parker wore it to the Crown Oaks Club Ladies Luncheon in Melbourne, Australia.

The hat, that resembles a water slide, was the brainchild of Master Hatter Treacy. It took him over 200 hours to complete the silk mesh headpiece that some say had the audience in Melbourne gasping. It also had the media calling it a satellite dish and perhaps the most outrageous headpiece in Parker’s repertoire.

Treacy had this to say about the hat, “Fashion is about suspense and surprise… Sarah Jessica Parker is the ultimate fashion icon.”

The good news about racing events – and Treacy’s unabashed attitude about hats – is that when people talk about hats they think about hats. So last week was a good week to be thinking (or selling) hats. And the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne is the perfect place to showcase millinery talent.

Elizabeth Hurley, who collects hats more often than husbands, was also at the race donning a large white floral fascinator.

Parker was also in Australia to promote her new film, “I Don’t Know How She Does It.” She was also inadvertently promoting hats and fashion headpieces. We are grateful to Parker and Treacy for having the guts and faith in fashion to make new inroads in the headwear world.

Royal Wedding…what a day!

Morning all….

Just wanted to add my mutterings to the world wide web about the totally fabulous marriage of Catherine and William. How perfect did Catherine look? I’m picky…..ask my friends….but she looked amazing….absolutely perfect…..beautiful girl. Big congratulations to Sarah Burton….job, extremely well done!

I was up early with my children making paper chains….when was the last time I did that?! Probably more years ago than I dare to think!

Then quickly put together a few red white and blue fascinators for the girls living on my street and a rather lovely embellishment on my son’s top hat!!

I wore red white and blue and a rather lovely red headdress…received many compliments about that at our street party!!

Would also like to mention and thank the British fashion industry for in the most part showing the world how its done!! I was totally loving seeing all the fabulous outfits and as for the hats…….!!! Special thanks to Mr Philip Treacy who I understand made around 40 hats for most of the Royals and high profile guests…..some absolute gems…..for me Zara Phillips….amazing…….!!!

I would like to thank all the ladies in the abbey wearing Beth Morgan…you know who you are…..! Thank you!! Really made my day…if it needed to be any more exciting…much jumping up and down in my house….made me feel in some way that I was there!!

Elle Style Awards 2010

Well the stars were certainly out last night in London……and not just in the sky….travelling the red carpet!! Some gorgeous, gorgeous looks from the radiant Dannii Minogue who was wearing a dress by Australian designer Lisa Ho in an amazing citrine colour which no doubt will be one of the colours to wear this spring summer. The ever fabulous Naomi Campbell, wearing McQueen, was recognised for her work with the charity The White Ribbon Alliance and dedicated her award to her friend, the late Alexander Lee McQueen.

I have to mention Leona Lewis, not just because she has the most amazing voice, is almost without fail beautifully dressed but last night looked so chic in an Alexander McQueen dress and a velour pillbox beret…..loved it!! So Parisian, cafe chic….with her hair swept back from her face the look was so clean and elegant yet edgy at the same time….

Paloma Faith also decided to up the stakes with a fascinator….not a look we might all go for….but hell why not?!! Love the Philip Treacy hat…great shape, giving great drama…perhaps she didn’t need the light reflective shawl?!! Just my opinion!!

I seem to have managed to create a mixture between the 2 looks with my new Cupid design….got the pill box beret and the quills….veiling added for extra vintage chic!!
