Light at the end of the tunnel……

Afternoon everyone……

Where has this month gone to? Every year the same - January seems to disappear almost as quickly as my New Years Resolutions! Number one on my list this year was get more creative! Would have thought that this would have been pretty easy….however have had a serious case of admin….loads of it…new website being built – a new shop feature to organise- photo shoots to re- arrange….the list goes on and on!

However I think there is light at the end of the tunnel….can almost see the finish line!! Better not speak too soon!!

I am hoping to launch my 2012 collection any day now….a soft launch at first…….will be showing on my website very soon, promise!!……. but I have so many people asking to view the designs I think I will have to utilize some of the social net working options I have at my disposal and get it out there! So watch this sapce…and Twiter and Facebook! I’m really excited to show it…can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

So just as a little appetizer I have attached a really lovely picture, of one of the largest headdresses from the collection, below……….

Kristina is the very chic and very obliging model and the fab and ever so classy images were shot by Tim Lyons of www.timlyonsphotography.co.uk

Only SJP……..

Morning! Read this piece recently and thought I would share it with you…..got to love SJP….got to love the people who dress her and got to love the way she wears the clothes….and when a certain Mr Treacy makes you something like this, then WOW….bet it did leave people gasping….and talking!! Excellent…lets all talk hat!!

BM x

They say any PR is good PR. So perhaps it was good news that Philip Treacy created another outrageous headpiece for actress Sarah Jessica Parker. The Treacy hat raised some eyebrows when Parker wore it to the Crown Oaks Club Ladies Luncheon in Melbourne, Australia.

The hat, that resembles a water slide, was the brainchild of Master Hatter Treacy. It took him over 200 hours to complete the silk mesh headpiece that some say had the audience in Melbourne gasping. It also had the media calling it a satellite dish and perhaps the most outrageous headpiece in Parker’s repertoire.

Treacy had this to say about the hat, “Fashion is about suspense and surprise… Sarah Jessica Parker is the ultimate fashion icon.”

The good news about racing events – and Treacy’s unabashed attitude about hats – is that when people talk about hats they think about hats. So last week was a good week to be thinking (or selling) hats. And the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne is the perfect place to showcase millinery talent.

Elizabeth Hurley, who collects hats more often than husbands, was also at the race donning a large white floral fascinator.

Parker was also in Australia to promote her new film, “I Don’t Know How She Does It.” She was also inadvertently promoting hats and fashion headpieces. We are grateful to Parker and Treacy for having the guts and faith in fashion to make new inroads in the headwear world.

Wedding Hats

The time is fast approaching ladies when we will start the trawl of the shops for that perfect hat to wear with the perfect dress and perfect shoes…that you hope will stay comfortable all day!! My advice is, don’t leave it until the last minute…if you can help it…..I know stuff happens, like weather…..colours clashing……some one has bought the same thing! Be prepared….the shops will be getting all their spring summer stock in any time now and before all the goodies have been snapped up you need to be in there ready to pounce!!

I have already heard from many Mother of the Brides…MOTB…..who have decided to work from the hat down! This works well if you are having something custom made that can be in any chosen colour. I work each season with a palette of at least 50 sinamay colours, flowers, feathers, veiling that come in maybe 25 different colours….not to mention the dyed to order pieces and a whole colour spectrum of crystals .There is no need to panic….your colour is out there, some where just find the right milliner to create that perfect headdress for you!

Pictured below are images of one of my most favourite designs, The Ava….just to give you an idea of the many ways different colour schemes can work on the same hat, these are just some of the ones I have made in the last year!! I am always happy to send colour swatches and give ideas for colour schemes….just ask!! A great way to get ideas for fascinators is to send me an image of your outfit and I will then, by return send you images of the kind of headdress I think would work to create the best effect…only ever ideas…I am more than happy to make what ever you would like!!
