Royal Wedding…what a day!

Morning all….

Just wanted to add my mutterings to the world wide web about the totally fabulous marriage of Catherine and William. How perfect did Catherine look? I’m picky…..ask my friends….but she looked amazing….absolutely perfect…..beautiful girl. Big congratulations to Sarah Burton….job, extremely well done!

I was up early with my children making paper chains….when was the last time I did that?! Probably more years ago than I dare to think!

Then quickly put together a few red white and blue fascinators for the girls living on my street and a rather lovely embellishment on my son’s top hat!!

I wore red white and blue and a rather lovely red headdress…received many compliments about that at our street party!!

Would also like to mention and thank the British fashion industry for in the most part showing the world how its done!! I was totally loving seeing all the fabulous outfits and as for the hats…….!!! Special thanks to Mr Philip Treacy who I understand made around 40 hats for most of the Royals and high profile guests…..some absolute gems…..for me Zara Phillips….amazing…….!!!

I would like to thank all the ladies in the abbey wearing Beth Morgan…you know who you are…..! Thank you!! Really made my day…if it needed to be any more exciting…much jumping up and down in my house….made me feel in some way that I was there!!

Happy New Year!!

Morning!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the year!

I’m looking forward to lots of hat wearing this year! am already searching for dresses for Chester Ladies Day, Royal Ascot and you never know I may be lucky and snag and invite to that big wedding that’s coming up in April!! Needless to say, lots of planning and research needs to be done and with the shops starting to have their new collections arriving daily I am loving the new spring colours and wishing for some sunshine!

I have been busy too….have managed to finally finish my 2011 Couture Collection……its been a real labour of love…lots of detail…more than usual….have got a bit carried away with beading this time! But as a true girl I love some sparkle…..I have attached a couple of sneak peek pictures to wet the appetite! More to follow shortly….just need to get them properly photographed!

Also would like to just say a quick thank you to Kate Middleton for sporting a rather lovely hat to a wedding this weekend…got to love the simplicity and elegant shape of this creation! Keep them coming……..!!!

Wedding Hats

The time is fast approaching ladies when we will start the trawl of the shops for that perfect hat to wear with the perfect dress and perfect shoes…that you hope will stay comfortable all day!! My advice is, don’t leave it until the last minute…if you can help it…..I know stuff happens, like weather…..colours clashing……some one has bought the same thing! Be prepared….the shops will be getting all their spring summer stock in any time now and before all the goodies have been snapped up you need to be in there ready to pounce!!

I have already heard from many Mother of the Brides…MOTB…..who have decided to work from the hat down! This works well if you are having something custom made that can be in any chosen colour. I work each season with a palette of at least 50 sinamay colours, flowers, feathers, veiling that come in maybe 25 different colours….not to mention the dyed to order pieces and a whole colour spectrum of crystals .There is no need to panic….your colour is out there, some where just find the right milliner to create that perfect headdress for you!

Pictured below are images of one of my most favourite designs, The Ava….just to give you an idea of the many ways different colour schemes can work on the same hat, these are just some of the ones I have made in the last year!! I am always happy to send colour swatches and give ideas for colour schemes….just ask!! A great way to get ideas for fascinators is to send me an image of your outfit and I will then, by return send you images of the kind of headdress I think would work to create the best effect…only ever ideas…I am more than happy to make what ever you would like!!

Elle Style Awards 2010

Well the stars were certainly out last night in London……and not just in the sky….travelling the red carpet!! Some gorgeous, gorgeous looks from the radiant Dannii Minogue who was wearing a dress by Australian designer Lisa Ho in an amazing citrine colour which no doubt will be one of the colours to wear this spring summer. The ever fabulous Naomi Campbell, wearing McQueen, was recognised for her work with the charity The White Ribbon Alliance and dedicated her award to her friend, the late Alexander Lee McQueen.

I have to mention Leona Lewis, not just because she has the most amazing voice, is almost without fail beautifully dressed but last night looked so chic in an Alexander McQueen dress and a velour pillbox beret…..loved it!! So Parisian, cafe chic….with her hair swept back from her face the look was so clean and elegant yet edgy at the same time….

Leona Lewis

Paloma Faith also decided to up the stakes with a fascinator….not a look we might all go for….but hell why not?!! Love the Philip Treacy hat…great shape, giving great drama…perhaps she didn’t need the light reflective shawl?!! Just my opinion!!

I seem to have managed to create a mixture between the 2 looks with my new Cupid design….got the pill box beret and the quills….veiling added for extra vintage chic!!
