Ladies Day Ascot 2010

Hello! I know its been a while…too long really…I can only blame myself for not sitting down to write and the fact that the run up to Ascot is just the busiest time for me….I’m actually quite glad its over for another year!

I had the best time actually at Ascot this year. The weather was beautiful and bought out some of the most amazingly dressed ladies around! So much style and so many chic little outfits to look at, I was happy just to sit and watch the world go by! I have to say though that there were a fair few ladies who hadn’t quite followed the dress code to the letter. Lots of very short skirts……..but who am I to judge? I really only looked at the hats!

There were, as always some absolutely beautiful Philip Treacy offerings including a divine white lace creation worn by Suzi Perry, a fabulous multi swirl of a fascinator by Stephen Jones and  some beautiful pieces by Jane Taylor.

It was so lovely to see that everyone had made such a huge effort! We all love an opportunity to dress up and any Ladies Day is up there with the best day out!  There were hats and fascinators of every shape and size….and although hats are optional, certainly in the Silver Ring……I didn’t see a single girl without some kind of feathery or flowery concoction on her head….fabulous!! Lets do it more often!!

Sparkling Bridal Headdresses

Having just got back from a trip to the Far East, I am so full of ideas at the moment I don’t know what to do next!! Having said that one direction I am sure to follow is to use some of the beautiful crystals and appliques I have found to create the most stunning bridal hair bands and headdress.

I have dabbled in this for a while but my ideas have taken on a whole new perspective and the sky’s the limit in terms of the styles and exquisite sparkle I plan to create!!

While these ideas are yet to be formed in reality…I am attaching a few of my current styles to give you something to be thinking about……who says it needs to be a bridal piece? Why not have something for a ball or the races or a night out with cocktails and the girls!!

Wedding Hats

The time is fast approaching ladies when we will start the trawl of the shops for that perfect hat to wear with the perfect dress and perfect shoes…that you hope will stay comfortable all day!! My advice is, don’t leave it until the last minute…if you can help it…..I know stuff happens, like weather…..colours clashing……some one has bought the same thing! Be prepared….the shops will be getting all their spring summer stock in any time now and before all the goodies have been snapped up you need to be in there ready to pounce!!

I have already heard from many Mother of the Brides…MOTB…..who have decided to work from the hat down! This works well if you are having something custom made that can be in any chosen colour. I work each season with a palette of at least 50 sinamay colours, flowers, feathers, veiling that come in maybe 25 different colours….not to mention the dyed to order pieces and a whole colour spectrum of crystals .There is no need to panic….your colour is out there, some where just find the right milliner to create that perfect headdress for you!

Pictured below are images of one of my most favourite designs, The Ava….just to give you an idea of the many ways different colour schemes can work on the same hat, these are just some of the ones I have made in the last year!! I am always happy to send colour swatches and give ideas for colour schemes….just ask!! A great way to get ideas for fascinators is to send me an image of your outfit and I will then, by return send you images of the kind of headdress I think would work to create the best effect…only ever ideas…I am more than happy to make what ever you would like!!

Bridal Fascinators

I have recently added a Bridal Collection page to my blog….I am asked so many times for more bridal images I thought that this would be a good solution. Here you can see some of the fascinators I have made in the past. Some of the images are work in progress shots so ignore pins etc!!

The images I show on my website are there for inspiration and I hope that by adding to the gallery page that I can show all the other pieces that I am making through out the year! Please contact me via the blog or my  website www.bethmorgan.co.uk for any other information on these or any other fascinator you would like to commission!!

There are designs for everyone…birdcages, 50’s starlet for a retro wedding, vintage jewels, theatrical feathers, 20’s boudoir styled wedding, sharp, modern and chic!! I have made them all!! I am always more than happy to discuss designs and make something totally new….

Paloma Faith at the Love Ball

Having mentioned this lady, Paloma Faith, yesterday and commented on her fab head wear, felt I had to mention this offering from the same lady from last night!! If only we all had occasion to wear hats as much as she does!! I love this look, very 40’s vintage chic with added Paloma edginess….great waved hair too! The pleating on the hat not only adds drama and height but interest in the great texture in forms.

Paloma Faith

Another great angle……

Not sure who this hat is by….if anyone knows please advise!! In the mean time if you wanted to have something similar to this look, yours truly has a little something for you……contact sales@bethmorgan for more details!!

Elle Style Awards 2010

Well the stars were certainly out last night in London……and not just in the sky….travelling the red carpet!! Some gorgeous, gorgeous looks from the radiant Dannii Minogue who was wearing a dress by Australian designer Lisa Ho in an amazing citrine colour which no doubt will be one of the colours to wear this spring summer. The ever fabulous Naomi Campbell, wearing McQueen, was recognised for her work with the charity The White Ribbon Alliance and dedicated her award to her friend, the late Alexander Lee McQueen.

Dannii Minogue in Lisa Ho

I have to mention Leona Lewis, not just because she has the most amazing voice, is almost without fail beautifully dressed but last night looked so chic in an Alexander McQueen dress and a velour pillbox beret…..loved it!! So Parisian, cafe chic….with her hair swept back from her face the look was so clean and elegant yet edgy at the same time….

Leona Lewis

Paloma Faith also decided to up the stakes with a fascinator….not a look we might all go for….but hell why not?!! Love the Philip Treacy hat…great shape, giving great drama…perhaps she didn’t need the light reflective shawl?!! Just my opinion!!

Paloma Faith

I seem to have managed to create a mixture between the 2 looks with my new Cupid design….got the pill box beret and the quills….veiling added for extra vintage chic!!

Its all about Veils

Not every bride sees herself as a traditional, full length veil wearing type of girl, and with there being so many fabulous alternatives there is something out there for everyone, every mood and every location!

I am asked about Birdcage veils probably more than anything at the moment….a close second being anything to do with Swarovski crystals…..I thought why not combine the two and have something that also channels the fab vintage vibe that we are all loving at the moment….hence the creation of  The Gatsby from my new 2010 collection coming very soon……I love, love, love this fascinator….you can have it with or without veiling….have the veiling in different positions……with a birdcage for example…..but I just loved this pompom of veiling for something a bit different!

The Gatsby

If the thought of all those crystal is not quite your thing, how about softening the look with an amazing flower, or keeping it  simple, but totally chic with a classic Birdcage veil ?

Beth Morgan Couture 2010 Collection

After many late nights, frustrating days and countless fittings my new couture collection is about to be launched!!!

Its been a long slog….but I am finally there!!

I started thinking about the collection last summer and finally had it ready to be photographed last Christmas. The shoot itself went with out a hitch, thanks once again to the photographic mastery of Mark at Archibald Photography www.archibaldphotography.co.uk and the stunningly gorgeous Pamela!! Think we managed to shoot all 20 designs in around 4 pain free hours….!!

My 2010 collection has a little bit of something for everyone! I always say that my designs can be altered to suit an individuals needs……and I hope that there is a lot of scope for personalization in my latest range. I do have my favourite pieces, these tend to change on a daily basis, but today …..I love Milkway…..crin swirls Swarovski crystals ………the shapes just happen, it evolves and I love the sparkling finished article. I have yet to see this hat in a colour that doesn’t work…truly gorgeous. I also love my Jardin piece…..a mass of roses with tulle and curled feathers…the fabrics are so rich and dense…like a good cake!!! Both of these sum up this season I think…the vintage, softer, romantic side and the stronger, smoother more edgy side.

To show you what I mean below are today’s two favourites!! Enjoy…..check back later for another sneak preview!!!
